Holistic SEO, what is it?

Firstly, what is SEO and why is it important?

SEO, or Search Engine Optimisation, helps drive organic and natural traffic for your website, blog or article and get your site at the front page of the Search Engine Results Page (SERPs). On Google, that means the first page of the search results.

Overall, SEO also focuses on keywords. These are clues for Google to pick up on so that it knows what a page is all about. Using the right keywords should reflect what your users are searching for.

That is traditional SEO.

Holistic SEO is similar, but it focuses on the bigger picture. It is a strategy that optimises the digital presence of your business while still aligning your business goals and aspects as a company. It moves beyond optimising keywords and focuses on the best experience for readers.

On-page & off-page uses

The terms ’on-page’ and ‘off-page’ are useful to get your head around. Utilising these factors will benefit your SEO rank.

On-page factors include elements on your own website like site structure, content creation/writing or speed optimisation. Content optimisation can include keyword integration. Your relevant keywords that are weaved in naturally in your titles, meta descriptions, headings, body text are essential. Take for instance if you have a coffee shop and sell tea, you’d use terms like ‘immune support tea’ or ‘brewing matcha tea’ where it is appropriate.

For content creation/writing you will be aiming for high-quality creation such as producing engaging content that directly addresses the user’s intent. This could be detailed blog posts, helpful guides or a breakdown of a product description.

Off-page, wouldn’t you know, does not take place on your website. This includes links from other websites to your own, local citations or social media attention. Link building from other websites to your own can help you earn a reputable status as a business and gain good notoriety for your website. It is a crucial sign to search engines that your content is trustworthy and beneficial.

For example, collabing with influencers who might link to your product or content.

Furthermore, social media attention can market your presence online bringing in organic traffic to your website, increase brand awareness and indirectly influence SEO.

These uses can be useful factors to gain more attraction and indicates to Google that you are a legitimate business.

Benefits from holistic SEO

Think of it as a digital garden. You are tending to your plants, watering them, nurturing them to grow healthy and thrive in nature. Businesses are just like plants, you want them to grow and become successful.

Key benefits of holistic SEO for your business:

  • Draws in organic traffic: rank higher in SERPs (Search Engine Results Page)
  • Improves and enhances User eXperience (UX): does your website load fast? Is it mobile-friendly? Is it easy to navigate?
  • Future-proof for your website: your website is less likely to be penalised by algorithm changes that target low-content websites. Regular content signals to Google that your site is user-centric
  • Increased conversion rate: Visitors who land on your website take a desired action, meaning they do what you want them to do. This could include filling out a form, making a purchase, reading a blog post, and many more.

In summary, holistic SEO can transform your online presence and enhance user satisfaction for your business success. It is more of creating a friendly space for your users so that readability is easy and navigation is handy. The audience will resonate to you more when you meet their needs effectively.
